YB Dato’ Sri Anifah Aman, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia will lead the Malaysian delegation to the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat (AMM Retreat) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. He will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the Permanent Representative of Malaysia in Jakarta, Indonesia to ASEAN. The AMM Retreat will be preceded by several other important meetings namely, ASEAN Senior Officals Meeting (SOM), CPR Meeting and 4th ASEAN Coordinating Council Working Group Meeting (ACCWG) on ASEAN Community’s Post-2015 Vision. Malaysia is the Chairman of ASEAN for 2015.
The AMM Retreat will also involve the participation of the Foreign Ministers and senior officials of the other ASEAN Member States as well as the Secretary General of ASEAN and senior officials from the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta.
The AMM Retreat will give the opportunity for the ASEAN Foreign Ministers to discuss the ASEAN Community Building 2015 as well as ASEAN Community’s Post-2015 Vision. The ASEAN Foreign Ministers will exchange views on international and regional issues of common concern as well as means to enhance ASEAN relations with its partners and global community.
Malaysia will also highlight the important issues for Malaysia including Malaysia’s priorities as Chairman of ASEAN and to review the developments of implementation of decisions made by ASEAN in the previous meetings.
The previous AMM Retreat was held in Bagan, Myanmar on 17 January 2014.
